CORPORATE STATEMENT
It has been brought to our attention that Robert (Bob) Wheeler, an ex-contract staff of the Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF) was the victim of an attack in Lagos by his former staff. The unfortunate incident is part of an ongoing police investigation.
The Tony Elumelu Foundation has been mentioned in some of the stories that have been reported in the media, therefore, it is important to state the following facts below to make clear the connection to the victim:
- At no point in time was the said driver, Orabe Phillips Leo a staff of the Tony Elumelu Foundation. Orabe was the personal staff of Bob Wheeler
- Bob Wheeler worked at the Tony Elumelu Foundation as a contract staff between January 1, 2015 and June 15, 2015, after which he left the country.
- Bob’s recent trip to Nigeria was at his own instance, he had no business dealings with the Foundation during his trip to Nigeria
