Tony O. Elumelu to Speak alongside Cape Verdean Prime Minister at the National Youth Forum in Cape Verde
Tony. O. Elumelu CON, The Founder, Tony Elumelu Foundation, Africa’s foremost philanthropy supporting entrepreneurship on the continent will on Wednesday, October 16, 2019, join the Cape Verdean Prime Minister and other African leaders as the nation hosts its National Youth Forum in the city of Mindelo where he will speak in a plenary style conversation themed “African Youth: foresight and opportunities” with the Prime Minister of Cape Verde, H.E. José Ulisses de Pina Correia e Silva.
Mr. Elumelu’s participation at this event comes at a time when Cape Verde seeks to prioritise youth engagement and empowerment through entrepreneurship and self-employment to take advantage of its thriving population and mitigate potential challenges of youth unemployment. This was necessitated by its on-going demographic transition which has seen the youth population aged between 15 and 34 rises to about 40% of the total Cape Verdean population as against 30% just a few years ago.
During the 3day forum, Mr. Elumelu will share the tried and trusted framework which his Foundation, the Tony Elumelu Foundation, pioneered to support the entrepreneurship ecosystem on the continent. Through the Foundation’s flagship Entrepreneurship Programme, the Foundation has empowered 7531 entrepreneurs from different sectors across all 54 countries of the continent.
While in Cape Verde, the Tony Elumelu Foundation will also hold a special entrepreneurship workshop targeted at Cape Verdean entrepreneurs to help them start, scale and grow their businesses. Holding on Wednesday, October 16, this event themed “Promoting Entrepreneurship in Cape Verde- Start-Up to Scale”. This event will explore challenges start-ups face and how to overcome drawing from real-life case studies them while also drumming up excitement for the next cycle of the TEF Entrepreneurship Programme which opens to all Africans on January 1, 2020.
