President of Guinea Hosts Tony Elumelu, TEF Entrepreneurs…Says Entrepreneurship will Drive Sustainable Development in Guinea
President of Guinea, His Excellency Alpha Condé, hosted Nigerian billionaire, philanthropist and Founder of the Tony Elumelu Foundation, Tony O. Elumelu, and ten Guinean beneficiaries of the Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF) at the State House in Guinea on Saturday, August 11, 2018. They were received by President Condé and the Governor, Central Bank ofGuinea, Dr. Lounceny Nabe.
At the meeting, Elumelu thanked President Condé for hosting the TEF entrepreneurs, commending the President’s interest in their business progress and ultimate impact on Guinea. He officially presented the Guinean TEF entrepreneurs to President Condé, reiterating his stance on entrepreneurship as the key driver of Africa’s transformation.
President Condé lauded Elumelu’s investment in the private sector and in African entrepreneurs across the continent. A former Chairman of the African Union (AU), President Condé affirmed his support of the African private sector as the solution to achieving sustainable development on the continent. He shared the ambitious plan of his government to further attract more investments in the agricultural space to provide employment opportunities in Guinea beyond the mining sector.
Elumelu affirmed this belief, stating that seven of the thirteen guinean beneficiaries of the Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Programme are agricultural entrepreneurs. He further committed to exploring further investment opportunities inGuinea’s private sector.
