TEF OPENS CALL FOR MENTORS
The Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF), the leading philanthropy empowering African entrepreneurs in all 54 countries across the continent, is calling on business and professional experts to join the global TEF Mentor Guild, for a chance to mentor Africa’s next generation of leaders through its flagship US$100M Entrepreneurship Programme. This call-to-action encourages all exceptional individuals who are passionate about Africa and Africans, to join the Foundation’s mission of driving poverty eradication, ensure job creation and facilitating women’s economic inclusion across the continent.
Members of the global Tony Elumelu Foundation Mentor Guild are volunteers who meet set criteria and are willing to commit to mentoring assigned entrepreneurs for 2 hours monthly, over a 12-month period. Leveraging machine learning, our Mentors are connected with Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurs (mentees) who best match their profiles, to ensure appropriate pairing that keys into the business interests of mentees and the mentors, and are rewarded with certificates of achievements and value-add opportunities
The criteria to join the global TEF Mentor Guild includes:
- Intermediate proficiency as either an English, French, Portuguese or Arabic speaker
- Quality interpersonal and listening skills
- Entrepreneurial and business savvy
- Committed to own learning
- Passionate about developing others.
Since the launch of the Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Programme in 2015, the Foundation has trained over 1.5 million young Africans on its digital hub, TEFConnect, and disbursed nearly USD$100 million in direct funding to over18,000 African women and men, who have collectively created over 400,000 direct and indirect jobs. The Foundation’s mission is rooted in Africapitalism, which positions the private sector, and most importantly entrepreneurs, as the catalyst for the social and economic development of the African continent.
