Elumelu Commissions the Aisha Buhari Foundation Maternity Wing in Yola
Tony O. Elumelu, CON Chairman, Heirs Holdings and UBA Group, and Founder Tony Elumelu Foundation commissioned the maternity wing of the Federal Medical Centre, Yola. The maternity wing is a project of the Aisha Buhari Foundation led by the Wife of the President of Nigeria, Her Excellency, Aisha Buhari. While in Yola, Tony Elumelu attended the launch of the Green School Youth Agriculture Training Initiative.
During the commissioning, Mr. Elumelu urged all Africans to seek ways to contribute to the transformation of Africa beginning with their individual countries.
A passionate advocate of African youth and the private sector as key factors in the bid to transform the African continent, Elumelu also advocates for gender inclusion and representation. His philosophy, Africapitalism, proposes that the private sector has the potential of transforming the continent; additionally, he proposes that the private and the public sector must work together to create shared prosperity on the continent. He lives this mission through the Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Programme, a $100 million commitment by the Elumelu family to empower 10,000 African entrepreneurs in 10 years and create businesses that can generate at least 1,000,000 new jobs and contribute at least $10 billion in revenue across Africa.
On the sideline of the launch, Elumelu joined H.E Mrs. Buhari, Governor Ahmed Umar Fintiri, Executive Governor of Adamawa state and the first ladies of Chad, Gambia, Ghana and Niger Republic, on the launch of an agricultural programme to train students at the Aliyu Mustapha College, Yola.
Elumelu continues to champion the cause of empowering African entrepreneurs and lead the dialogue between the entrepreneurship ecosystem and its stakeholders through the annual Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Forum.
During the 5th edition of the forum, he will moderate a presidential dialogue with the President of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), H.E Félix Tshisekedi, President of Rwanda, H.E Paul Kagame, President of Senegal, H.E Macky Sall and over 5000 participants comprising of entrepreneurs, investment organisations and other policymakers. The forum is scheduled to hold 26-27 July at the iconic Transcorp Hilton, Abuja.
