Demand for tomatoes in Nigeria is about 2.4million tons/annum, our farmers produce about 1.5million tons but about 45% is lost postharvest, while import is estimated to be over $400m per annum. Federal government banned tomato paste import, creating a need for local production. Nafarm Foods partnered with individuals and communities owning moribund processing facilities, and we revive and optimize them to full scale operation, process fresh tomatoes into paste and puree (mix of tomatoes, onions and pepper) and pack in 70gram sachets targeting low income earners.
