Africapitalism: Not Just a Private Sector Gain
In last week’s This Day, the respected journalist Kayode Komolafe shone a spotlight on Africapitalism, an economic philosophy that is gaining attention across Africa and in other key centres across the world. It is essentially a call on the private sector to lead Africa ’s development through long-term investments in strategic sectors that can create both economic prosperity and social wealth. In his article, Komolafe asserted that social benefits cannot be derived solely by the acts of the private sector – and I agree. Under a purely capitalist system, this is a proven truth.
