Meet the Facilitators

Dr Ed Hoffman,

Dr Ed Hoffman, Founder and CEO at Knowledge Strategies LLC and Strategic Advisor at PMI

Dr. Hoffman is CEO, Knowledge Strategies, LLC.  Knowledge Strategies is engaged in research, education, and consulting services in support of organization performance. He serves as Strategic Advisor for the Project Management Institute, with a focus on integrated strategies for the Global Executive Council.

His area of expertise is in leadership and talent management, knowledge design, and team performance.

Dr. Hoffman retired from NASA as a Senior Executive. He was the first NASA Chief Knowledge Officer, and founder of the NASA Project Leadership Academy. Following the Columbia Shuttle failure, he led the team that designed the Strategic Management and Governance Handbook. He received the NASA Outstanding Leadership Medal in 2010.

Dr. Hoffman is currently a Senior Lecturer at the Columbia University School of Professional Studies. He has written numerous journal articles, and co-authored Shared Voyage: Learning and Unlearning from Remarkable Projects (NASA, 2005) and Project Management Success Stories: Lessons of Project Leaders (Wiley, 2000). He is currently researching and designing a curriculum sequence on the future of work, for Columbia University.

 

George Asamani

George Asamani, Business Development Leader for Africa at Project Management Institute (PMI)

George Asamani is Business Development Leader for Africa at Project Management Institute (PMI) – the world’s leading association for the project management profession. George is responsible for scaling the impact of PMI in Africa through organizational development, sector partnerships, and consumer initiatives. He works with PMI’s vast network in Sub-Saharan Africa and a global team to engage with corporate and educational institutions across sectors – offering project solutions that develop skills, drive efficiency and deliver impact on the continent.

As co-founder of DooWapp, an award-winning music messaging start-up, he pioneered a messaging business model for digital music distribution, led early stage fundraises and secured music licensing with global rights holders, including Sony ATV and Universal Publishing.

George is also co-founder and entrepreneur mentor for London Business School’s Accel Awards initiative, which supports early stage entrepreneurs in Africa with grants, mentors and access to international markets. George has also been trainer and mentor for British Council’s Entrepreneurial Africa programs in Sudan, Ghana and the UK.

His corporate experience includes leading sales growth for tech firms such as Apposit in Ethiopia and Infosys in the UK, particularly in the financial services sector where his work included building sales teams, delivering FinTech, IT Security and Big Data solutions.

George holds a BSc Physics from Kings College London and an MBA from London Business School.
